Catherine Morland is "in training for a heroine" and loves to read Gothic novels. She is chosen by neighbours Mr & Mrs Allen to accompany them to Bath where she meets Mr Tilney who enjoys teasing the naive Catherine. When General Tilney, his father, invites Catherine to stay at their home Northanger Abbey, Catherine begins to imagine Gothic horrors and mysteries attached to the home.
